Honestly, I think the Academy Awards were kinda boring last night. Is this really the best Hollywood can come up with for their biggest night of the year? I mean, as usual, it was well produced visually, but I'm over seeing Ryan Seacrest on the Red Carpet interviewing the stars. It's so...uncomfortable. Ryan is a bizillionaire, semi-talented, and very connected, but he's so damn predictable...and boring. What's my fav 5 weird Oscar moments from last night you ask?...What? You're not asking? OK. Sorry, but I'm going to tell you anyway.
1) Sophia Loren. Really?
2) Why did the show producers splice in so many OLDER movies during the movie of the year clip roll. Confusing.
3) Mickey Rourke. He's awesome, but he looks like a wax figure.
4) Hugh Jackman shaking everyone's hands in the entire first 10 rows. Is this really necessary. Do we care?
5) As usual the show was a whopping 30 minutes over, clocking in at 3:30. That's even longer than Benjamin Button. God!
Carey
P.S. On a possitive note, Jerry Lewis, who is close to his MID 80's, made a great seamless, passionate speech as he accepted the humanitarian award for charitible contributions. This guy has raised more than 2 BIL for MDA and is still the living benchmark for comedy team duos everywhere. Think Farley & Spade are funny? See Martin & Lewis (Jerry Lewis (still living), Dean Martin (dead, but eternally cool).
