Do you feel like you need a bit of a break from Michael? Wow. I mean, OK. I'm not talking about the actual memorial service, I am talking about the RECAP! As we go through our lives, mostly everything "improves" or gets more "adaptive." Want to see that curve ahead while you're driving down a dark, twisting slab of ash fault? Bam, BMW develops adaptive headlights. Remember our parents or grandparents having to get up and change the channel? Bam, remote control. Don't want to take a birth control pill every day? Bam, wear the birth control patch! I know that I'm jumping around here, but you get the idea. Anything we do over and over again, like driving...changing TV channels...or sex, gets researched, analyzed, and finally, improved. Everything except television media! Seriously, who is in charge here? Is it Phil Griffen, President at MSNBC? Is Sean Hannityreally editing his whole show around an MJ recap? This just in...we don't NEED complete coverage anymore. We've got a million chances to TIVO, DVR, download, surf the 'net, or, yes actually view in real time, MJ's big going away party. And, I'm just guessing here, that there will be about 1000 "tributes" to Michael DVDs available to buy with your Chase Card with a 29% interest rate, by this weekend. So, why does network cable TV do this to us, even when we are screaming in all the pop culture polls that we've had enough? Is it the same reason radio stations play the same 15 songs over and over again? Frequency. Smart media programmers know that just when we say we're REALLY TIRED of something...it really means we know, we identify with it, we crave it. Frequency. Bombard the bastards with the same story, the same jingle, the same P!NK song. until they throw up they're hands and surrender. Next time some geeky, monotoned researcher calls and asks you to participate in a "survey" for radio listening or TV viewing, tell them, "hey, I just watched 12 straight hours of continuous Michael Jackson coverage...bring it on baby!"
